The Speleologist's explorations have begun since man's curiosity brought him to underground worlds of unique beauty and archaeological, historical and geological interest.

Caving by its core nature involves a number of naturalistic activities (such as walking, hiking, camping, climbing- artificial or free), which approach the main objective, namely to explore a cave or gulch.

Since the introduction of speleologists in the underground world, the feeling is completely different as the darkness, the dampness and silence dominate to the scene. At the same time anyone can track the unknown due to ambition of a new (small or large) discovery. In our country 11,000 caves have been recorded. A small number of them have been explored sufficiently. We live in a paradise for cavers, full of unexplored, fairly safe and mainly clean caves. Come to light along underground rivers in serpent- shape meanders and vast halls. Let's step together on virgin untrodden clay and be first to shape our footprints.

  • Caves - Gulches

There are small caves on the side of the Megala Litharia and in Limeria ton Klefton on the north side. The Gamila is known for its deep potholes. These are:
    • Provatina, 407 m, depth one of the largest vertical gulches of the world, actually the third in a row. The chasm has been created by the combined action of water and ice. The main feature is that at the depth of 180 m. there is a small loft containing a never- melting ice. There is also a unique room with a small pond and commemorative plaques from both Greek and Foreign Missions, hang on the walls.
    • The "Chasma toy Epous" with depth 451 m. Its creation differs from that of the Provatinas Cave. The dominant element is water, since the cave serves as a pothole, draining plateau waters. There are two different paths that someone can follow: the Epic I with 451 m depth and the Epic II with 340 m depth.
    • The "Trypa tis Nyfis" of total depth 340 m. This cave serves as a gulch, as the Epic Gulch, after collecting the waters from the region. It consists of three large potholes with p150, p50 m and p120m. And two smaller with p10 m p10 m, its endings is that narrow so it is impossible to pass through.
    • The "Gkeilotrypa" of 200 m. depth
    • The "Spera tou Tsepelovou" 228 m depth, as well as many other gulches, some of which are located in the region of the Village Vradeto.
